白・赤・緑キャベツ/White, Red, Green Cabbage

こちらには白キャベツ、赤キャベツ、緑キャベツがある模様。緑キャベツの写真ないですが、今日お茶した日本人のお友達があると教えてくれました。白キャベツが日本のキャベツに近く見えるけど、味が違う。苦い？灰汁が強い？そして固いです。。そしてものすごい葉っぱ達が密集してます。40分くらい煮込んで、さらに次の日まで置いたら旦那さまは美味しいと言ってましたが、私にはやはり灰汁が強く感じました〜（＞＜）

では緑キャベツが日本のキャベツの味に近いのかというとそうではなく、白菜の柔らかい部分みたいな感じだそうです。

ちなみにChou Rouge（赤キャベツ）としてお店で売ってますが、黒キャベツに見えるのは私だけだろうか。。

Seems like there are white, red and green cabbage here in France. Don't have the photo for green cabbage but my Japanese friend told me. White cabbage looks close to cabbage sold in Japan but the taste is different. Feels bitter and more hard. Leaves are so dense. I simmered it for 40mins and even left it till next day. Hubby said it's good, but for me, it still tasted bitter!

I asked my friend if green cabbage is closer to cabbage in Japan but seems not and is more like soft part of chinese cabbage..

BTW, it's sold as Choue Rouge meaning read cabbage, but is it only me who thinks it's black..?

記念すべき日！？/Memorable Day！？

今日は一人でお肉屋さんに行き、薄切り肉を買うことが出来ました！レベル低いですが、、旦那さまにものすごい守ってもらった５ヶ月だったので、未だ一人ではほぼ何も出来ないのです。。さすがにこのままではいけない！とフランス語の学校も今月末から再開することにしました。

ちなみにフランスではフランス語の日常会話が出来ない移民には無料レッスンが提供されます。レベルによって提供時間数が違うのですが、全然出来ない私は最大時間もらえる！と期待していたのですが、出来ないのレベルは違うところにありました。最大時間数もらえるのは、字が読めない、書けない、というレベル。識字率が非常に高い日本で育ったことを自覚しました。全世界の平均と比べるとアフリカ大陸内は識字率が低いところが結構あるようですが、ヨーロッパのすぐ下に位置する大陸なので、そういった移民もきっといるんですね。（ちなみにそれでも私は100時間の無料レッスンを頂きました。）

ちなみにお肉屋さんでは豚肉も牛肉も薄切り肉にしてもらったのですが、発する言葉は「牛肉！同じ！」みたいなレベル。。これからがんばります（＞＜）

Today, I was able to get sliced meat myself at the butcher! I know it's such a low level story.. but my hubby protected me so much, that even after 5 months, I can't do much.. We realized I have to change! so I will start going to French school from this month end.

In France, they provide free lesson for immigrants who doesn't speak French. Number of lessons you can get differs by your level and I thought I would get maximum lessons. Though the level of 'I can't speak' was somewhere else. People at the bottom level would be people who can't read or write. I realized that I was raised in a country with high rate of literacy. People from Africa continent probably has lower rate of literacy compared to world average and since it's right under Europe continent, I guess there are immigrants at that level. (BTW, I did get 100 hours of free lessons even though..)

I got both beef and pork sliced at the butcher, but the level is like 'beef!', 'same!'. I will work more from now.. ; )

更に2本咲く！/Two more Bloomed!

日本の実家では蘭は床暖が好きなのかと思ってましたが、我が家ではすぐ後ろの空気孔がいいのか、ここに置いておくとよく咲きます☆更に2本の枝から咲きました〜♪後の二鉢もがんばって芽が出てくるといいけど、ちょっと、だいぶ！？ドライな感じかも・・。諦めずに置いておいてみよう。
（どうでもいいけど英語でbloomをタイプする度に手が自動的にbloombergってタイプする。。この短い文で4回もやった。。未だ癖が抜けてないことに驚き。。）

At my home in Japan, I thought the orchids like the floor heating since they bloom a lot. Though here, I guess the orchids like the air duct behind. It blooms very well. Bloomed from two more branches : ) Hope the other two pots will bloom too. Though they look pretty dry...
(BTW, my hand types 'bloomberg' when I try to type 'bloom'. I did it 4 times in this short sentences! Can't believe my habit stays this long..)

ガレット・デ・ロワ/Galette des Rois

ガレット・デ・ロワって知ってます？以下ウィキペディアより抜粋。
「フランスの地方ごとに少しずつ異なるが、最も一般的なものは紙の王冠がのった折りパイにフランジパーヌ（アーモンドクリーム）が入ったパイ菓子で、中にフェーヴ（fève、ソラマメの意）と呼ばれる陶製の小さな人形が一つ入っている。公現節（1月6日）に家族で切り分けて食べ、フェーヴが当たった人は王冠を被り、祝福を受け、幸運が1年間継続するといわれる。」

私は実家にあった子供向けお菓子の本に載ってたのを何故か覚えてました。ケーキの名前と中のフェーヴが当たった人は王様〜☆ってことだけ。昔から頭に名前だけあったお菓子がフランスから、と知って何だかつながって嬉しかった（＾＾ゞ。

今や1月6日とは限らず、12月から3月までパイは販売されてるらしい（笑）。今年は旦那さまのお友達呼んで我が家でやりました☆と言ってもさらーっとパイを食べて後はいつも通り話してるだけなので、日本のボジョレーみたいな感じ？イベント？旦那さまは会社でも皆でやったそうです（＾＾）そしてさらーっと過ぎたのでフェーヴの写真すら撮らなかった（笑）。王冠はベビーが冠ってました（笑）。フェーヴは売ってるケーキ屋さんによって色々違うみたいです。

We did Galette des Rois today at our place. Originally, people had this on Jan.6th. People eat a pie that has 'fève' inside. Fève is a small pottery figure. The person who had fève inside on their piece, puts the paper crown and gets celebrated and will have good luck for 1 year. (From wiki)

I remembered the name of the cake and the crown part custom from the baking book I had when I was little. I didn't know it was from France but was little happy that the little thing I remembered from long time ago was connected to France : )

Now, the pie is sold from December to March according to everybody. It's a good reason to gather up I guess so we just cut the pie and ate and chat. haha. I didn't even take photo of fève! Fève differs by each bakery.

週末の有名美術館/Famous Museums on Weekends

今日は珍しく観光的なことをしようと、有名なオルセー美術館かルーブル美術館に行こうと思ったのですが、どっちも長蛇の列（＞＜）。セールが始まって最初の週末だからちょっとは空いてるかと期待したけど甘かった・・。有名な観光地であることを再認識。。平日も混んでるけど、週末は観光客＋フランスの人で激混みだそうです。。朝早く行けばもう少し空いてるらしい。

We thought of going to Musee d'Orsay or Musee du Louvre but both had long long line so we gave up.. We hoped that it might be less crowded since it was the first weekend after sale started though didn't happen.. I realized it's such a famous sightseeing area.. Seems like week days are crowded too but weekends are more crowded since it's tourists + French people. Hubby says better to go earlier in the morning.

パリ日本文化会館/Maison de la Culture du Japon a Paris

エッフェル塔の近くに、「パリ日本文化会館」なるものがあります。旦那さまと初めて行ってみました。茶道のデモンストレーションが週に一度あったりするらしいです。後は図書館。歴史や文学的なものが結構置いてありました。一番見るところがあるのが1階のお店かな。本や食器など置いてあります。書道で使う印泥があったのは驚き。日本人でも買いたくなるような物は多くなかった気がしますが、こういうところにフランスの人が来ているのは何だか嬉しいものです。

There is 'Maison de la Culture du Japon a Paris' near the Eiffel tower. Went to visit with my hubby. They have tea ceremony demonstration once a week. The library had quite a lot of history and literature books in Japanese. We spend most of the time at the shop on 1F. They have Japanese dishes and books. Surprisingly, they had 'indei' (red ink for calligraphy). I didn't feel like buying anything but it's happy to see people in France come to this place : )

Restaurant: 「Teawan』

中華料理のお店には好みのデザートがなかったので、すぐ近くにあったバブルティーのお店「Teawan」でバブルティーを買いました☆あったかいチャイと冷たい抹茶。前に紹介した「Vita in 稲香」の方がタピオカのもっちり感と抹茶のなめらか感は好みでしたが、食後のデザートとしては満足でした♪


I couldn't find the dessert I want to eat at the Chinese restaurant so decided to buy bubble tea at 「Teawan」close by. Hot chai and cold maccha. 「Vita in 稲香」, I introduced before had tapioca and maccha that fits my taste better but it was good dessert : )

Restaurant: 「大家楽」/SINORAMA

今日は日本のお友達とあっという間に５時間もスカイプしてしまってたら夕飯の支度をしてないことに気がついた。。そこに救いの電話！「今日は外に食べに行く？」と旦那さま☆家にカメラ仕掛けてあるのかと思うような言葉（笑）。（ちなみにうちの旦那さまはカメラ関係のお仕事しています。）

自宅前のバス停からさっと行ける中華料理、「SINORAMA」へ。ここはことりっぷとかにも載ってました。フカヒレとかにのスープに油淋鶏、海鮮固焼きそばとチャーシューまんで満足☆固焼きそばはもっと全部パリッと揚げていいかなー。

自宅からバスですぐなのがとても便利なところです（＾＾）

I was skyping with my friend for 5 hours... and realized I haven't prepared anything for dinner! Then I guess my hubby was watching me with his camera (j/k but his company handles camera), thus he called to ask if I want to go out to eat or not. Yes!

We went to the Chinese restaurant 「SINORAMA」 which we can go very easily with the bus running in front of our place. This restaurant was in one of the travel guide I have. (Kotorip) We had shark fin soup, Yurinchi (fried chicken with sauce), seafood yakisoba and pork bun. I like it better if the yakisoba was fried better but generally, it was good : )

Very convenient place to go from our place!

賢いお買い物/Smart Shopping

今日は義母とホームグッズショッピングに出かけました。ランチを食べながら「何が欲しいの？」と聞かれ、これとこれと、と説明していったら、「家に余ってるのがあるわ〜」、ということで、先にお家に寄ってみました。そしたらほとんど揃った・・。かなり節約☆ありがとうございますm（＿＿）m

でもいくつかまだ見たい物があったので、パリ近郊最大のショッピングモールVelizy 2に連れて行ってもらいました。パリは1月11日からセールが始まってるので大混雑！かと思いきや平日のお昼間ということもあったのかそうでもなかった。義母も拍子抜け？目的買いだったのと、あまり遅くなるとパリの交通渋滞に引っかかるので早々に引き上げましたが、色んなショップがありそうだったので、今度はじっくり回ってみたいです（＾＾）

I went home goods shopping with my mother in law today. She asked me what I want to buy during lunch. When I listed up, she told me 'I think I have some of them at home that we are not using'. So we decided to stop at their place first. Then, I was able to get most of the things I wanted.. It saved us a lot. Thank you : D

I still had few stuff I wanted to see so she took me to Velizy 2 which is the biggest shopping mall right outside Paris. Paris sales started from Jan.11th so we thought it's going to be crowded! but wasn't too bad at all. We already knew what I want and since the Paris traffic jam will start, we left pretty quickly but seems like there are many shops so hope to stop by again sometime : )

書道で致命的ミス。。/Fatal Mistake on Calligraphy..

今日は引き続き旦那さまがいないので１日中ゆっくりと書道をしてたら、途中まで支部名間違えてた。。墨は消せないのが痛い。。パリ支部の自覚を持って精進しなくては・・。

My hubby's still on business trip so I was taking time to do calligraphy all day today. Though I realized I was writing wrong branch name till one point.. Ouch.. Ink is not possible to erase.. I need to represent Paris branch!

贅沢なご飯/Fine Meal

今日から旦那さまは出張に出かけました。寂しい。。でも一人で贅沢なご飯を食べてみました☆今の私にとっての贅沢なご飯は・・・白いご飯にご飯の友！久しぶりの納豆美味しかった〜（＾＾）

My hubby is gone for business trip from today. I feel lonely... but decided to have good meal : D Precious meal for me it is... rice and small sides that goes with rice! I enjoyed natto. It's been a long time since I had it last time. It was very good : ))

Restaurant: 「Cafe St Regis」

今日は旦那さまと外でランチデートが出来ました☆旦那さまが好きな建築家が手がけたレストランらしいのですが、ご飯も美味しかった！「Cafe St Regis」というところです。私はペンネを頼んだのですが、今のところパスタが美味しいレストランはパリでは貴重♪お野菜も美味しく調理されて出て来た！

デザートもまたまた（＾＾；）cafe gourmandでプリンとマカロンとマフィンで美味しかったです〜♪

I was able to have lunch outside at 「Cafe St Regis」with my hubby today. It was a restaurant designed by the architect that my hubby likes. The food was very good : D I ordered penne, but it's pretty rare (so far) to find a restaurant in France that serves good pasta. Veggies were cooked great too : )

Again, ordered cafe gourmand for dessert. It came with pudding, macaroon and muffin which was good too!

銀行ATMに英語は？/English for Bank ATM?

こちらで銀行口座を作りました。使い方を学びに銀行へ。っていうか英語への表示切り替えがないって。。ほんとフランス語出来ないといけない国なのね〜。。

I made bank account here in France. I went to the bank to learn how to use the ATM and realized there is no display switch to English.. I guess you really need French here...

Restaurant: 「Cafe de la Paix」

今日は日本から遊びに来ているお友達と会いました。どうやら有名らしいオペラ座近くの「Cafe de la Paix」へ。雰囲気はゴージャスなので内装、場所代かな。全てが高かったです・・。

ちなみにお友達は以前フランスに3年半も住んでたこともあり、私よりよっぽどフランスについて知ってます。パリにはご飯を食べに来るのが目的！ということでスケジュールは人気レストランでの食事でいっぱいでした（笑）。

I met my friend from Japan today. We went to 「Cafe de la Paix」 close to the Opera. My hubby and my friend told me it's a very famous cafe. Very gorgeous so I guess the price was for interior and place. Everything was very expensive..

My friend from Japan lived in Paris for 3.5years before and she knows much more about Paris than me. She says the purpose to come to Paris for her is to eat! so her schedule was full with famous restaurant reservation!

Restaurant: 「Les Editeurs」

今日はロンドンからパリに帰国中の旦那さまのお友達夫婦とディナーにオデオン地区の
「Les Editeurs」へ。いつも何となくお肉を頼んでしまう私ですが、今日はお魚の栄養も！ということでマグロステーキを頼んでみました☆前菜は本日のサラダ。

サラダはルッコラがメインでドライトマトとパルメザンチーズ。美味しい♪マグロステーキも焼き過ぎてなくてしっとりしてて美味しかった（＾＾）

デザートはお得意の！？Cafe Gourmandでパンナコッタ、クレームブリュレ、マカロン、チョコマフィンが付いてて大満足☆

We went to 「Les Editeurs」at Odeon area to have dinner with my hubby's friend couple. I tend to order meat all the time but I felt like taking fish today so took tuna steak. Took salad for appetizer.

Salad was with arugula, dry tomato and parmesan cheese. Good : D Tuna steak was very good too. It wasn't cooked too much so nice and moist : ))

I took cafe gourmand for dessert which was with panna cotta, creme brulee, macaron and chocolate muffin. It was very happy meal : ))

2012年最初のお花/First Flower for 2012

お休み明けであまり良いお花がなかったと旦那さまは言っておりましたが、素敵なピンクのバラを頂きました♡

My hubby said there weren't much since it was right after New Year's but I got a beautiful pink roses today : ))

生姜焼き用お肉/Meat for Shoga-yaki

以前こちらには薄切り、細切れ肉がないと書いたのですが、お肉屋さんに行ってスライスしてもらいました！当初はしゃぶしゃぶ用くらい薄くならないかなあと思っていたのですが、しゃぶ肉にはちょっと厚い。。（使っちゃうけど。）お肉屋さんにはこれ以上薄くは無理、と言われました。でも生姜焼きにはばっちりです☆

次の課題は自分で説明出来るようになること。旦那さまと一緒の時に説明してもらって買ったのですが、お肉屋さん、すごく不思議そうだったので、質問返されたら答えられない。。常連になって顔見て分かってもらえるくらいになる方が早いかも（＾＾ゞ

I wrote before that there is no thin sliced meat in France. Though I succeeded to ask the butcher to slice it! I was hoping to be thin as 'shabushabu' meat but it's bit thick for that. (I'll use it for shabushabu though..) The butcher told us that's the thinnest they can make. It's good for 'shoga-yaki' : )

Next target for me is to be able to order it myself. I went with my hubby but since it's not usual for the butcher, they asked few questions back. I can't response with my level now! They might remember my face before I will be able to order myself!?

年賀状/New Year's Card

何人かのお友達がフランスまで日本の年賀状を送ってくれました。自分が日本にいた時には思いつかなかったのですが、20円切手追加して70円にすると海外に（フランスに）ハガキ送れるんですね〜。皆賢いな〜。

ちなみに私は毎年年賀状を結構書いているのですが、今年はこちらから日本にまとめて送ってみたところ、年末年始の忙しい時期ということもあったのか、届くまで2週間以上かかり、皆さんへの到着がだいぶ遅くなっているようです。。

Some of my friends sent me typical Japanese New Year's card from Japan all the way to France ; ) I couldn't think of it when I was in Japan, but all you had to do is add 20yen which makes it total 70yen stamp that enables delivery to France. My friends are so smart : )

BTW, I usually write quite a lot of New Year's card. This year, I sent it to Japan from France in a bunch but I guess the post office was crowded year end and New Year, it took more than 2 weeks till delivery..

2012年に向けて/Looking toward 2012

しばらくブログのアップデートが滞ってしまいました。まとめてアップしました〜。

少し遅めの新年に向けて、となりましたが、皆さんにご報告です。と言ってもこのブログを読んでくれているほとんどの方は既にご存知なのですが、２０１２年、家族が一人増えることになりました（＾＾）

言葉が不自由な異国の地で初めての妊娠、ということで色々戸惑っていることもありますが、スーパー協力的な旦那さまと力を合わせ、皆さんに素敵な報告が出来るようがんばろうと思います（*^^*）

今までお友達の妊婦さんは沢山いたり、お友達の子供が沢山いたりしましたが、実際に自分が妊娠してみて初めて実感することも多々あり、期待も心配も初めて分かるものばかりです。既に沢山の方に期待も心配もかけていますが、ベビーと共に少しずつ成長しながら、楽しみな日を迎えたいと思います。

皆さま、今年もよろしくお願いいたします。

It's been a long time since I updated the blog last time. I updated in a bunch ; )

It's a little late New Year's resolution!? and most of the people reading this blog knows already, but we will have a new family this year ; ))

I feel tough sometimes since I don't speak the language here, it's new land for me and first baby. But with my super cooperative hubby, hope we will be able to give you wonderful news this year : )

I had many friends that went through pregnancy and many friends with babies, though there are many things that I understood and realized for the first time. Both, happy thoughts and worries. I hope both me and our baby will grow little by little and be able to give happy news to everybody.

2012年！明けましておめでとう！/Bonne Année！

皆さま、明けましておめでとうございますm（＿＿）m
本年もよろしくお願いいたします。

２０１２年は旦那さまのお友達のお家で穏やかに迎えました。ご近所のいくつかのお家は、大音量で窓を開けて踊ってました（笑）。

こちらではクリスマスは家族とだけど、年越しはお友達と、というのが普通だそうです。年末年始の祝日は１月１日のみなので、基本１月２日から通常通りです。なので貴重な１月１日は旦那さまと一緒にのんびり自宅で過ごしました。よく考えると初めての夫婦でのお正月。２人きりで１日中一緒に過ごせて良かったです（＾＾）

お節をパリで作る実力はまだなく（あ、日本でもない　笑）、お雑煮だけ作りました〜。でも朝はパンにチーズとお餅、という和洋折衷な食卓（笑）。私のご飯でだいぶ日本の味にも慣れたという旦那さま、でもたぶんいつまでもご飯が大好きな私と同じように、好きなのはパンにチーズなのかと☆

２０１２年も皆にとって良い年になりますように♡

Everybody, Happy New Year！！Hope it will be a great year for everybody : )

We spent the New Year's together with hubby's friend. It was quiet but some of the neighbors had their window opened with loud music and were enjoying dancing.

Here, you spend Christmas with family and you spend New Year's with friends. Holiday is just the 1st of January so people start working from the 2nd. Me and my hubby spent our first precious New Year's holiday together as a married couple with just two of us all day : )) It was quiet and relaxing and we enjoyed a lot.

In Japan, we generally eat 'osechi' for New Year's but since I'm not good enough to make osechi myself, I made just 'ozouni'. Though in the morning, we had both bread and cheese and mochi on the table. haha. Hubby says he got used to Japanese taste a lot with my cooking but like I love rice, I'm sure he will keep loving bread and cheese : )
