Today, we went to 「Kushikatsu Bon」 with my three friends who knows about restaurants a lot! This restaurant is originally from Osaka and that one received one star from Michelin. Seems like the owner is targeting to get a star in Paris too. I liked the atmosphere of interior : )
I went to a different kushikatsu place in Paris with my hubby before. That place was not bad either but at that time, I realized the difference of vegetable between France and Japan. It might be difficult to do the same but seems that the owner here is really trying hard so hope I feel closer and closer!
I felt a lot of effort from the fresh vegetable served as a starter. At the same time, I was remembering the cucumber that I got from Japan recently and was realizing how Japan vegetables are really juicy : D
Hubby said he likes this place better than the one we went before. I felt the same too. I wonder if you have to put bread crumbs for kushikatsu or not. I thought some might taste better without. Though overall, it was very good : )
Course is only 15 sticks + 2 dessert sticks. You can add one special stick for the day. Today was seed seaweed brought from Japan.
Opening a Japanese restaurant in Paris is I guess either Japanese in Paris or do the same as Japan (at least try). Unless you pay a lot, there will be an obvious difference on what you can get. I'm sure many restaurant owners are struggling..
